Denial is when the drug user and his or her family and friends insist that there is not a drug problem. The drug user will be highly defensive about his or her suspected use, the last thing they want is to be "found out." Users will insist they "do not have a problem; they do not use drugs in excess," they "can quit anytime." If the drug user does this does your family often fortify this denial by inventing excuses for the users behavior?
